Topic: Culture for the Young What Does the Young Generation Expect from Culture?
Date: March 23 and 24, 2026
Location: CAMP (Vyšehradská 51, Praha 2)
Registration: GoOut
What are the needs of the younger generation, and are we able to respond to them within the cultural sector? When and why does culture become inaccessible or uninteresting to young people? What should cultural institutions do to be perceived as relevant by young audiences? How can cities and local governments create conditions for the active participation of young people in culture?
The sixth edition of the Prague Cultural Forum explores what young people expect from culture today, the barriers they encounter, and the gaps they perceive in the approaches of the state, cities, and cultural organisations. The conference also focuses on how cultural institutions can attract young audiences and build long-term relationships with them.
Monday, March 23 – Conference
The conference will be held in Czech and English and will be fully simultaneously interpreted. Live captioning for deaf and hard-of-hearing participants will also be provided.
Tuesday, March 24 – Public Workshops

WORKSHOP 1
How to Effectively Use Municipal Resources to Support Young People’s Interest in Culture: Piet Forger (City of Leuven, Belgie)
March 24, 2026, 10.00—12.00
How can cities and local governments systematically support young people’s relationship with culture? How can cultural policy and the use of local resources be designed so that culture remains relevant, vibrant, and a natural part of young people’s everyday lives rather than a marginal activity?
Led by Piet Forger, long-time Head of the Department of Culture of the City of Leuven, this workshop offers inspiration from the practice of a European city that has been working strategically and consistently with young audiences. Participants will learn about concrete approaches, tools, and models of cooperation between local governments, cultural institutions, and young people — from strategic planning to the implementation of cultural activities.
The workshop focuses on how public resources can act as a catalyst for young people’s interest in culture and how to prevent cultural institutions from losing contact with their future audiences and creators.
The workshop is intended for representatives of municipal and state cultural departments, cultural organisations, and students.
The workshop will be held in English without interpretation. Capacity is limited; early registration is recommended.
WORKSHOP 2
Changing Communication as the Foundation of Full Audience Capacity: Karolína Kostková (Refresher)
March 24, 2026, 13.00—15.00
The younger generation is growing up in an environment where technology is a natural part of everyday life, shaping how they perceive the world, communicate, and consume culture. What does this mean for cultural institutions and their communication strategies? What language should be used today to reach young audiences and stand out in an oversaturated media landscape?
The workshop focuses on shifts in communication strategies aimed at young audiences — from the choice of topics and tone of voice to visual style and content creation. Is form the decisive factor, or does what we say matter just as much? How is the visual taste of young people changing, and how can cultural institutions respond in practice?
The workshop is intended for representatives of cultural organisations as well as city and state authorities.
The workshop will be held in Czech. Capacity is limited; early registration is recommended.
